Who We Are

At SOS Carbon, part of the BlueGea Group, we are the largest private in-water harvester of invasive sargassum seaweed. Born in the Caribbean, we have developed patented technologies and integrated services that intercept, harvest and manage sargassum before it reaches the shore. Co-designed with researchers at MIT and local artisanal fishers, our solutions combine engineering with years of operational experience in the field, while creating new economic opportunities for our communities.

About Us

Our Mission

To redefine how the world responds to invasive seaweed by deploying the technologies and infrastructure needed to protect coastlines at scale with the local communities.

Our Vision

A world where no coastline is threatened by invasive seaweed because
addapted, technology-driven management systems are part of every vulnerable coastal region.

Our Values

01

Engineering

We develop patented technologies like the Littoral Collection Module (LCM), retrofiting artisanal fishing boats into high-capacity nearshore harvesting systems capable of collecting invasive seaweed before it reaches the coast.

02

Fishers

Local fishers are at the center of our model. We create skilled employment, new income opportunities and long-term economic resilience by integrating existing fishing fleets into invasive seaweed management operations.

03

Prevention

We stop invasive seaweed on the water before it reaches beaches, coral reefs, mangroves and coastal infrastructure, reducing the environmental and economic impacts of massive seaweed influxes.

04

Scalability

Every technology and operational model we develop is designed to be replicated by governments, ports, tourism operators and coastal industries, enabling permanent largescale invasive seaweed management rather than temporary emergency responses.

05

Partnerships

We collaborate with local and international leaders, research institutions, governments, NGOs, and technology providers to deliver integrated, science-based, and cost effective sargassum management solutions. By combining complementary expertise and technologies, we ensure each project is tailored to the environmental and operational needs of every client.

06

Clients

We provide customized sargassum management solutions for the tourism industry, governments, ports, coastal communities, power generation companies, infrastructure developers, and organizations seeking sustainable coastal protection and seaweed management strategies.

More on Our Values

Engineering-led
innovation

We design and operate technologies that work in real marine conditions. Our approach to innovation is practical and field-tested, combining engineering, applied science, and continuous iteration to address environmental challenges at scale.

Environmental
responsibility by design

Sustainability is embedded in every stage of our operations, from  system design and deployment to data, monitoring, and outcomes. We prioritize ocean health, emissions reduction, and long-term coastal resilience through measurable performance, not claims

Partnerships with
coastal communities

Our operations depend on strong, long-term relationships with coastal communities and fishers. We work directly with local partners, creating stable economic activity and integrating local knowledge into daily operations.

Operational
integrity

We operate with transparency, accountability, and responsibility across the entire value chain. From data and reporting to on-the-ground execution, we hold ourselves to high operational and ethical standards.
